P2E Modem/Router Boot Sequence Power Distribution Unit
P2E 2 Port Power Distribution Unit. The Pakedge Intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDU) are a complete power control solution for A/V networks. It was designed with one function in mind to keep your power managed devices operating when you want them to, and turned off when you want them to. This is accomplished through a suite of technologies and features that enable the PDU to be monitored, configured and operating autonomously through the local network, or remotely through the cloud. The Pakedge P2E is a two outlet PDU with all two ports completely configurable and managed. Two autonomous operating modes for maximum flexibility and functional usefulness The Pakedge P2E PDUs two ports operate in two possible autonomous modes self healing mode and timer mode. Self-healing mode is used to repair frozen or non-responsive devices. Once configured and operational, the built in Auto Ping server pings each power managed device every 15 seconds. If the PDU does not receive a reply from the device after a certain number of attempts, it will perform a power cycle of the device by turning off the outlet and turning it back on. This causes the power managed device to restart. The PDU can be configured to allow the affected units to power up in a controlled sequence in order to avoid power flooding at startup. In addition, it ensures that certain units have completed their restart tasks, before the next unit powers up. An example of where a controlled startup is important is a modem-router-switch-device reboot to correct a frozen router or modem. Timer mode is used to keep devices onto an operational schedule. Once configured and operational, the built in timer executes autonomously until a new schedule is put in place. Power managed devices are turned on and off according to the schedule. Examples of scheduled device power events could be a reset of a touch panel every 24 hours, turning off wireless access points in a part of an office building after work hours, and restoring power to the devices at the start of working hours. On-demand control enables PDU to respond to real time conditions. In addition to manual commands, the Pakedge PDU integrates with control and automation systems through the console port, which can receive and execute commands through this port. Integration with control systems extends the usefulness and execution of these control systems and the utility of the PDU. Access to the PDU via Command Line Interface (CLI) is available through the console port. The PDU management functions are in six areas. Self-healing mode configuration sets parameters for specifying and managing devices to be power managed. Timer mode configuration sets parameters for specifying and managing devices to be schedule managed. System configuration sets system access and control parameters, including telnet and SNMP. User Account setup manages who will be allowed to control the system. Serial port setup configures serial or console port for setting up telnet sessions. Network setup configures integration of PDU into the network. In Self-Healing mode, the following settings for each power outlet can be managed and configured. Port name descriptive name for each outlet that corresponds to the unit being power managed. On/off the status of the unit after the outlet has been power cycled. Permission enables the port to be managed by other users (up to 8 users can administer a PDU). Auto Ping and Reboot activates auto ping every 15 seconds; reboots if no response. Ping IP IP address of device to be pinged. Power On Delay the time for each outlet to be turned back on after it was powered down. This enables a safe startup. In timer mode, the following settings for each power outlet can be managed and configured. Timer mode turns timer mode on or off for outlet. Start time – actual calendar date and the time power event (on or off) is to be executed. Timer period period between power events. Loop count the number of times a power event is to occur. Toggle duration after power event has executed, how long before the timer period starts again. Multiple user management for maximum operating versatility The PDU allows up to two different users access to manage the outlets in various capacities for maximum management flexibility. Three different user profiles are available. Admin Creates and manages user accounts, take over power outlets or user serial console ports, and change system settings. User Make changes to port settings if port permissions are granted, as well as make system configuration changes. Guest View the system configuration settings and operate unreserved outlets. Extended PDU capabilities when cloud managed through the BakPak Cloud Management System The PDUs can be integrated with the Pakedge BakPak Cloud Management System. Through BakPak, its easy to get a complete overview of your network. Devices connected can be viewed at a glance, with full access to the management menus through the device portal remotely from anywhere in the world. In addition, when integrated with the BakPak, the following new functions are enabled. PDU Virtualization ports on the PDU can be grouped with ports on other PDUs or PoE switch port on Pakedge switches. These ports can be custom combined to create a new virtual PDU or power controller that can be managed as a single unit for the ultimate in convenience and flexibility. This allows users to turn on or off all connected touch panels, access points, or other powered devices throughout their home at the same time through a single interface. PDUs or PoE ports can be on units located physically in the same network, or units located on the same network across the country or world, or units from different networks. Remote Port by Port Power Control Port-by-Port power control gives users control over their system from anywhere in the world. Users can quickly and easily name ports for easy identification, and control power to their network directly from any mobile device or internet-connected PC. Group Power Management Groups of ports on different PDUs throughout the network can be assigned daily schedules, allowing easy, automated power control. As an example, all lights throughout a home or office can be set to turn off automatically at 10PM on weeknights, but 12PM on weekends. Connect+ Platform Certified The Pakedge PDUs are a core component of the Pakedge Connect+ Platform, and is certified to integrate seamlessly with other Pakedge certified components for a total system experience. In addition, Connect+ Certified means that the product will share device intelligence with other certified devices, as well as leverage intelligence from other devices for improved performance and unlock additional functionality. These functionalities may include automated fault detection and self-healing, self-optimization and automated firmware management, disaster recovery and remote management. Power Protection Ready Design Approach The Pakedge PDU was designed deliberately for integration with high-end, high performance power protection capabilities found in 3rd party Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS). Exclusion of surge suppression in Pakedge PDUs eliminates the weakened and unpredictable power protection problem created by daisy-chaining multiple competing surge suppression systems together (which prevents either system from properly clamping and interrupting the electrical fault, resulting in excessive current flow and potential for fires). This enables the high performance surge suppression systems in the UPS to operate correctly. Maximum interoperability The PDU supports the following protocols ICMP, IP, TCP/UDP, DHCP, Telnet, DNS, POP3, SMTP, SNMP, and HTTP/HTTPS for maximum interoperability. Flexible mounting options The P2E can be mounted in a variety of ways. It can placed on a desktop, or it can be wall mounted behind devices using its built in flanges on the casing (such as televisions on a wall).
